Welcome to Flood Gate Kennels website.We are located far north San Antonio, Texas. Many of our Goldendoodle puppies have been placed in homes all around Texas including Austin, Dallas, Houston and El Paso.

It is our aim and our passion to producing quality, healthy pets. We see this as our  main priority and one that we take very seriously. Our breeding program consists  of European Golden Retrievers and Goldendoodles both American and European. 

 

Goldendoodles are primarily bred to be family companion dogs. This hybrid dog of both a Golden Retriever and Standard Poodle produces a dog that not only has a great temperament for service, they will work well in families that have allergies to dogs. Goldendoodles originally began to be created in the 1990’s in both North America and Australia to develop dogs that could be used for people who had allergies but still needed the help of a service/guide dog. Thus, the mix between the Golden Retriever and Poodle began. The results of mixing these two wonderful breeds became known as Goldendoodles. While sometimes called a designer breed, this mix creates a wonderful addition to any family with a dog who is loyal, smart and is great with children.

European Golden Retrievers  (English cream golden retriever) are also bred to be family companion dogs. While many still do work as sporty retrievers they are very much know as wonderful  family pets.

 There are many reason we prefer European Golden Retrievers to American. First and foremost is health. You will notice the color first but that is not their best quality by far. They have been carefully bred to maintain the health of all offspring. (no over breeding, no inbreeding). The build of the dog is heavier, showing: larger chest, blockier head and muzzle.
